Le National Theatre a confirmé la distribution pour les dates restantes de la tournée britannique et en Irlande de Cheval de guerrequi se poursuit jusqu'au 8 novembre 2025. La production revient le 10 juillet au Alexandra Theatre de Birmingham.
Cheval de guerre est basé sur le roman de Michael Morpurgo, adapté par Nick Stafford, et a été initialement réalisé par Marianne Elliott et Tom Morris. L'histoire suit Albert, un garçon qui entretient pour trouver son cheval Joey après qu'il soit vendu à la cavalerie lors du déclenchement de la Première Guerre mondiale. La production présente des marionnettes par Handspring Puppet Company.
La production a été créée au National Theatre le 9 octobre 2007 avant de s'ouvrir au New London Theatre en 2009. Il a depuis joué dans plus de 100 villes dans 14 pays, notamment à Broadway et à Toronto et à Berlin.
Les lieux de tournée restants incluent le New Wimbledon Theatre du 5 au 16 août, Leeds Grand Theatre du 19 août au 6 septembre, Newcastle Theatre Royal du 10 au 20 septembre, Edinburgh Festival Theatre du 2 au 11 octobre, Wales Millennium Center du 15 au 25 octobre et Norwich Theatre Royal du 28 octobre au 8 novembre. Les performances assistées sont prévues dans chaque site.
Danny Hendrix rejoint la compagnie en tant que vétérinaire Martin, avec Clara Lioe comme Emilie / Joey en tant que poulain et Christopher Naylor en tant que soldat Klausen / prêtre.
